I am inspired by the honest ideals of the Arts and Crafts movement through their use of simplicity and the rejection of inappropriate ornamentation within their designs. Also key in influencing my work is their moral purpose of design, which involves creating ‘necessary’ products that perform a required function to a high standard. I believe the methods of construction should be exposed to the consumer making them fundamental to the overall aesthetic of the piece. I also enjoy experimenting with laminated curved forms to create an elegant focal point to a room that would appeal to any contemporary home.
