Emma Mayle

Seduced by the ethereal elegance and colourful vibrancy of glass, I unite contrasting hues within multiple layers to create decorative works of narrative depth. Kiln-casting is my method of choice to generate form, whilst the element of tactile design is achieved via various techniques of cold-working. Pen and paper are often incorporated to add texture, pattern and delicate detail. Inspired by illustration, film and music, my compositions strive to be bold in character yet elegantly brittle with an uncanny playful edge, possessing the ability to simultaneously haunt and humour.
