Inspired by ancient forms, medieval ornamentation and botanical illustration my
work focuses on the contrasts achievable through the use of ceramic and glass, creating a balance between old forms and new processes.
Carved and textured stoneware forms the basis of my pieces, which are highly burnished and fired to a deep velvety black to enhance linear details.
Exploring the process of laminating porcelain between glass I am able to create highly decorative panels. These are kiln formed and the individual pieces used to create contrasting bands, collars and inserts for my ceramic vessels.
