As a designer/maker the designing process begins with a walk in the woods, where I create bespoke furniture from Hazel rods and Ash Wood, inspired by the natural form of the living tree. Filming BBC2 Mastercrafts has informed my work and reaffirmed my belief in the importance of sustainability. I work with locally sourced wood which I have coppiced myself. This process encourages regrowth. I also use traditional techniques and processes which respects the timber and minimises environmental impact. Each piece is individual, however all of my furniture features my signature “Y” shape within the design. The form and natural curve of the branches inspires the designs which when made are strong and functional.
